VCDL needs member-volunteers at the upcoming Fredericksburg show, October 3 & 4 at the Fredericksburg Fairgrounds, 2400 Airport Avenue, Fredericksburg VA 22401.

As before, VCDL will have a booth at this event, and we need member-volunteers to talk about protecting and defending our right to defend ourselves.
NO previous gun show or event experience is required. Only your enthusiasm and dedication to help VCDL grow stronger.
Don't forget that many vendors will give discounts to volunteers!
Sign-up to volunteer for one or more of the following shifts:
Saturday, October 3 - morning shift - 8:00am-1:00pm (includes set-up)
Saturday, October 3 - afternoon shift - 1:00pm-5:00pm
Sunday, October 4 - morning shift - 10:00am-1:00pm
Sunday, October 4 - afternoon shift - 1:00pm-4:00pm (includes tear-down)

John Pierce put together an article about the recent overturning of the post office gun-ban for present and future members of certain gun organizations:
All 2026-2027 carry card orders that have been received so far have been successfully fulfilled.
Everything was dropped off with UPS and USPS on September 25.
If you don't have your carry cards in hand in the next week or week and a half, please let us know so we can verify the shipment. Many of you probably already have the tracking numbers.
Sorry it took so long for us to get these things out, but somehow between the new laws and the lawsuits, things got a little catawampus. Thank you for your patience and your support.
Please consider taking your friends who did not vote the last time, to the polls this time! It would truly help us to avoid this situation in the future!

If you would like between 1 and 10 newly revised 2026-2027 Carry Cards, as fast as we can get them to you, send a self-addressed stamped envelope (SASE) and your most generous contribution to:

Please enclose a note with:
1) the number of cards desired
2) an email address and phone number in case there are issues with the mailing, and

Your SASE with the optional orange-colored "Guns Save Lives" sticker and the requested Carry Cards will be sent to you as soon as we get the order.

Gun stores seek clarity as Virginia AG launches FAIR unit to enforce new industry law [WCYB]
This is a video by Attorneys on Retainer (AOR) which is discussing a recent document put out by USCCA which, in AOR’s opinion, has some bad advice for CHP holders should they be involved in a shooting.
To be fair, AOR is a competitor of USCCA, when it comes to providing legal defense for CHP holders. This item is not meant by VCDL to be an attack on USCCA generally. But AOR makes some important points about that particular document.
USCCA puts on an excellent magazine several times a year. I have not seen any bad legal advice in that magazine. However, AOR says, and I must agree, that the document being discussed does NOT appear to have been written by, or approved by, a practicing self-defense attorney.
I am not a lawyer and AOR brought up a point that I had not considered when someone is talking to either 911 or the police directly after a self-defense shooting: what if you THOUGHT the shooting was good legally, but some detail that you were not aware of, made it a questionable or even a bad shooting?

19-year-old Martinez Long was at a Dearborn mall where a fight escalated into another man shooting dead one person, shoot another and begin to recklessly fire inside the mall.
Long drew his own pistol and killed the shooter stopping the gunfire.
Because he didn't have a MI carry permit, he was prosecuted and sentenced to 2-years of probation. The presiding judge (pictured) made the statement, "what do you need a gun for protection in a mall, in the first place?” 😳
Think about that.
