The legislative process, and the terms used, can be confusing. We've compiled an outline of how the Virginia Legislature works, what the terms mean, and how you can participate. If we want true government of the people, by the people, for the people, it's our duty to be engaged.

Once the new session becomes active, we'll post links to the committee shedules here. We will also offer information on how to register to testify virtually or attend in person. Your participation is vital to accomplishing our mission! It's easy to do, and we'll guide you.

For a government of the people to work, We The People must stay educated and engaged! We're here to help you with that. You can sign up for our FREE email called the VA-Alert. Members will automatically receive the Alerts unless they opt out. We'll keep you informed of bills being heard and their progress through the system.

There are many ways to stay engaged, both at the state and local level. Here are some links to help you be an effective citizen activist.
Click the link above to see the questions we ask the candidates who are seeking to represent you. If your candidate hasn't filled out the survey you can share the link with them.
This link gives you the voting history of state legislators. Stay informed about how your representatives are voting. Let them know you appreciate correct votes, or disapprove of incorrect ones.
When we receive a candidate's response to our survey we grade their response. Grades will be posted on this page. If you don't see a name listed they haven't responded yet.
We have the most influence at the local level. It's also where bad laws affect us the most! We must keep an eye on our local governments and take action when needed. Click here to learn how you can help.
