About
The Virginia Citizens Defense League (VCDL) was founded in October 1994 as the Northern Virginia Citizens Defense League (NVCDL). The group experienced enormous growth in membership statewide and was incorporated as VCDL in May of 1998.
VCDL is a non-profit, non-partisan, grassroots organization whose mission is to champion the fundamental human right to self-defense and ensure the liberty of all individuals to own and use firearms responsibly. We are dedicated to educating the public on the importance of preserving these freedoms, advocating for the elimination of restrictions that infringe upon these rights, and supporting measures that enhance safety and responsibility among gun owners. We strive to unite individuals across the political spectrum in support of policies that respect our heritage, promote personal safety, and secure our liberties for future generations.
VCDL believes that to win the fight to restore our Gun Rights, we have to:
- go on the offensive
- make use of a very effective lobbyist –- the voter
