Defending Your Right to Defend Yourself

1. early voting starts today!

Early voting starts today and runs for 45 days.  This election is critical, as we could be in worse trouble than we were in 2020 if things go wrong.  For that reason, I strongly suggest you don’t wait, but vote as soon as possible.  By doing so, you lock in your vote so it can’t be stolen, and you don’t have to worry about something unexpected keeping you from voting on election day.

To find out where you go to vote early, click here and select your locality:

2. A Bullet-proof vest may have contributed to the way charlie kirk died

Before it was known if Charlie Kirk had survived, I watched the close-up video of him getting shot to understand what damage had been done by the bullet and to see if it appeared survivable.  I believe that the video at the link below explains some very odd anomalies I noticed when examining the video, based on what appeared to be a direct neck shot:

  1. Why did Charlie’s shirt have a hole in it high on the left side?
  2. Why did the left collar of his shirt temporarily jump up to almost the height of his left ear?
  3. Why was the hole in his neck so large for an entrance wound?

The answer looks like it lies in the bullet hitting the very top edge of some body armor, fragmenting, and deflecting upward:

4. A first amendment refresher [video]

No, your First Amendment rights don’t protect you from getting fired, losing your friends, alienating family members, etc.  They just keep the government from arresting you for what you say (with very few exceptions).

5. [LA] why you might want a louisiana chp

Member Raphael P. sent me this:

Even though Louisiana is a Constitutional Carry State and does recognize the Virginia CHP (and others), the Louisiana CHP allows carry in some restricted places (more are coming) ... school zones, bars, parades and demonstrations (as long as you are not a participant), outside airport secure areas ... etc.

6. [ga] butts county sheriff urges citizens to arm themselves after stabbing of ukrainian immigrant in nc [video]

There are some outstanding sheriffs in our country, including many here in Virginia.  This one is in Georgia:

7. [dc] legilators want laxer dc laws so they can carry. what about the rest of us?

8. franklin armory's new short-barrel rifle that is not covered under the nfa!

Due to a judicial ruling and the ATF agreeing with that ruling, Franklin Armory’s Antithesis rifle with a collapsible stock and a short barrel is NOT considered an SBR anymore.  Also, Franklin’s Reformation shotgun with a short barrel and stock is no longer considered an SBS.

9. vcdl signs onto amicus brief dealing with short-barreled rifles

VCDL and the VCDF (Virginia Citizens Defense Foundation) have signed on to an amicus brief being filed by GOA.  The brief is in support of the U.S. Supreme Court granting certiorari in a case called Robinson v. US.

Robinson is out of Florida and challenges the constitutionality of the National Firearms Act (NFA) in reference to short-barreled rifles.  The brief will supply some important information for the Court to consider that is missing in the challenge.

To be a party on an amicus brief, like this one, is $1,000.  The various lawsuits we are doing against localities and the Commonwealth cost $20,000 just to walk in the door!  Currently, we have five lawsuits filed in the courts challenging Virginia law:

  • Gun ban in rest areas and ABC stores
  • One Handgun a Month
  • Universal Background Checks
  • City of Winchester gun ban in City garages
  • City of Roanoke gun ban in parks and permitted events

If you can help offset the costs of these legal efforts, that is always greatly appreciated!  You can contribute on the VCDL website using the link below.
