Registration and squadding is open for this excellent match, which is held every year by the Roanoke Rifle and Revolver Club to benefit VCDL. RRRC has been a wonderful supporter of VCDL for many years now, with VCDL membership being one of the options to qualify for RRRC membership.
If you have never shot in one of these matches, you are missing out on a lot of fun and some great practice!

Hello VCDL members in the Hampton Roads / Tidewater area, I hope all is going well for each of you.
There will be a gun show in the Hampton Convention Center on September 12 & 13, 2026.
Anyone wishing to volunteer for a shift at the table should email gunshows.hampton@vcdl.org. Please indicate which shift and which day you are available to volunteer for (first come, first choice). No experience necessary! Just come out and have some fun talking to people about the VCDL.
Shift Schedule:
SATURDAY, September 12th
AM (0900-1300) (2 volunteers needed)
PM (1300-1700) (2 volunteers needed)
SUNDAY, September 13th
AM (1000-1300) (1 volunteer needed)

Mark your calendars! VCDL’s virtual membership meeting for September will be on Sunday, the 13th, at 8pm.
Board member and firearms attorney, John Pierce, will be our special guest that night. John will be talking about the new gun laws, the effects of the recent court rulings, and doing some Q&A. (You can ask questions in the chat.)

VCDL will have its monthly membership meeting at XCal, on Thursday, September 17th, at 8pm. We will be discussing what’s happening in the courts in Virginia and in the country; other gun-issues affecting Virginia’s gun owners; and Q&A.

Billion-Dollar Buttons!
For those that are wondering about the occasional items in our store that have exceptionally high prices, some exceeding one billion dollars, please understand that our store *WAS* being used by at least three different miscreants to test stolen credit card numbers.
We were having over a thousand attempts per day most days. Occasionally, one would sneak through. They all were appearing as a $1 item and $12 shipping. So, we raised the price to the point that the sale would be rejected. At least that was our hope, and we used this method until we could find a better solution.
However, if you happen to have a billion dollars lying around that you are not using and are willing to invest it in a VCDL button, Philip would be glad to deliver it to you in person!
Thank you for your understanding in this matter and being kind until we came up with a solution.
The solution?
In sum, we had to turn on part of the store that requires verification by sending a PIN to the email you enter before allowing you to check out.
We have not had any repeat occurrences in almost a week!! Prices have been returned to normal, but if you see any we missed, please let us know! Thanks!

The amicus brief in question uses dicta in Heller that says that “M-16 rifles and the like” may be banned.
Dicta is one or more justices pontificating on areas of the law that are not directly on point to the question they are deciding, but somewhat relevant. But remember that the dicta in Heller came long before the strong ruling in Bruen that laid out the historical tradition test. So, we at VCDL certainly believe that machine guns are constitutionally protected arms and would pass the historical traditions test because of the history of an armed citizenry protecting the country. But the direct question on machine guns being protected has not yet been answered by the Supreme Court since Bruen.
