1. CENTURY ARMS SAYS THERE WAS A MISUNDERSTANDING ABOUT SHIPPING PRODUCTS TO VIRGINIA
In a previous alert, I reported that a Virginia gun dealer had been told by Century Arms that effective immediately they were no longer shipping to Virginia.
It turns out this was some kind of miscommunication. Either the dealer had misinterpreted what it had been told by Century Arms, or the Century Arms sales representative had made a misstatement to the dealer.
Regardless, Century Arms V.P. of sales, Adam Raunala, contacted me and stated the following in an email:
I'm reaching out to you both [VCDL VP, Jim Snyder, and me] in hopes of clearing a false narrative that has made its way back to us about our support of the Second Amendment in Virginia. We are whole heartedly supporting you as an organization and as fellow Americans in your fight for your rights. I personally even met with Congressman Ben Cline two weeks ago over lunch in DC at Capitol Hill Club and asked how we could support the fight for VA citizens gun rights. To be very clear we are absolutely still selling our products into Virginia and will continue to for as long as we legally can. The graphic below depicts the article the VCDL sent out with information counter to that truth. My hope is that you will correct this issue and we can use this as a building block to creating a strong relationship together moving forward. Please feel free to call me personally with any questions you may have. I look forward to an email back from you and a strong relationship in the future!
Hopefully this now sets the record straight so that VCDL and Century Arms (I am a customer of theirs, BTW) can work together to fight for the right to keep and bear arms in Virginia.
2. ACTION ITEM FOR DINWIDDIE COUNTY RESIDENTS - COMMITTEE TO LOOK AT TARGET SHOOTING REGULATIONS
Back on January 20th, Dinwiddie County Board of Supervisors formed the Firearm Safety Advisory committee to address target shooting in the County. They are specifically looking at backdrops, night shooting, and the distance from occupied dwellings.
Here is who is on the committee:
- Daniel D. Lee, Chairman
- Sheriff D.T. Adams (or designee)
- Commonwealth’s Attorney Amanda N. Mann (or designee)
- Casey Dooley (Board of Supervisors – District 1)
- Ryan Smith (District 1 Representative)
- Steve Schmidt (District 2 Representative)
- Forrest Dance, Sr. (District 3 Representative)
- Faith Driggers (District 4 Representative)
- Chuck Allen (District 5 Representative)
Committee Chair, Supervisor Dan Lee, wrote this:
I want to be clear, neither the Firearm Safety Advisory Committee nor the Board of Supervisors seeks to infringe upon the constitutional right to bear arms. As many of you will recall, in November 2019, the Board adopted a resolution designating Dinwiddie County as a Second Amendment Sanctuary locality. That position remains unchanged.
The committee’s role is to carefully study these concerns, gather input, and determine whether any recommendations should be made to the Board of Supervisors.
ACTION ITEM
If you live in Dinwiddie, you need to attend the public meetings held by the committee to provide input and insight.
The next meeting is being held on Monday, April 27 at 6pm. Location:
Eastside Community Enhancement Center
7301 Boydton Plank Rd.
North Dinwiddie, VA

Zenith Firearms (https://zenithfirearms.com/) is having “Zenith Day” at their store on Saturday, June 13th, from 10am to 5pm and VCDL needs a few volunteers to staff our table at this event.
Location:

Afton, VA 22920
Here is what to expect at the event:
- In-depth view and hands-on access to Zenith’s firearms, parts and services

Zenith specifically invited VCDL to have a free table at the event, but we need volunteers to take advantage of that offer.

5. AGAIN, BE CAREFUL OF WHERE YOU GET YOUR INFORMATION ON THE GUN BILLS ON THE GOVERNOR'S DESK
If you don’t know that the person posting a video on gun bills or gun laws is a reliable source, be very cautious about what they are saying.
Case in point is this video, with this headline:
BREAKING! Carrying Your Pistol Is Now A *CRIME* (No Grandfather Clause...)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SctwYdBup0Y
It has caused a lot of people to think their CHP will be worthless or that they won’t be able to open carry a handgun in public. That is NOT the case.
The bill on the Governor’s desk restricts AR and AK style pistols or any pistol with a threaded barrel. Unless your handgun has a threaded barrel or has a fixed magazine that holds more than 10 rounds (only one that comes to mind is the KelTec PR-5.7), your normal semi-automatic handgun that you carry is NOT affected. And the capacity of your removable magazine makes no difference. So, almost all of the handguns currently being carried are not affected. Even if the bill is signed, it will not go into effect until July 1, so saying that carrying your pistol is NOW a crime is incorrect and misleading.
Don’t get me wrong, this is a horrible, unconstitutional bill that VCDL will be fighting in court, if it becomes law. But it is important that gun owners know exactly what gun bills do and don’t do, without any confusing hype.
6. PAM BONDI HAS BEEN REPLACED AS U.S. ATTORNEY GENERAL
There are three pro-gun permanent replacements that could be picked (in order by preference): Harmeet Dhillon, Lee Zeldin, and Todd Blanche.
7. ARTICLE: WEAPONS OFFENSES RISE ON VIRGINIA UNIVERSITY CAMPUSES
So, unsurprisingly, it looks like most of the weapon offenses in Virginia universities come from non-students who are in the areas surrounding the university.
What do the genius gun-controllers in the General Assembly do? Expand the prohibition penalty for carrying in campus buildings from trespass, expulsion of students, or firing of employees to a Class 1 misdemeanor!
This is what we are expected to believe: criminals who are going to commit a violent felony by murdering, robbing, or raping someone, would be scared to death of being charged with a misdemeanor! Makes perfect sense – in the Twilight Zone.
Student and faculty are being put in danger by politics. The fools behind this should be ashamed of themselves.
