VCDL Update 8/5/26 with BREAKING NEWS!

BACK TO VA-ALERTS

In seven days, if there is not an appeal by the federal government, suppressors, short-barreled rifles, and short-barreled shotguns will no longer be considered part of the NFA if you are a current or future member of any of these organizations:

  • Gun Owners of America
  • Gun Owners Foundation
  • FPC Action Foundation
  • The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms or
  • The Firearms Regulatory Accountability Coalition, Inc.

VCDL will have more information in the near future on what this means to gun owners in Virginia, including those who might be making their own suppressors or short-barreled long arms.

VCDL has learned that the Virginia State Police are not doing private sale background checks at gun shows currently. If you wish to do a private transfer at a gun show, you will need to find an FFL at the show willing to do one.

Perhaps gun shows will have a designated FFL to do private transfers?

VCDL is going to have a picnic on Sunday, August 16, from 11am to 4pm, with food being served at 1pm.  The time was extended to allow those going to church that morning to be able to attend.

The picnic is at:

Osborne Park

Shelter 1

9530 Osborne Turnpike

Henrico, VA 23231

VCDL picnics are always a fun event for the family and are open to the public.

There is no charge to attend, and you don’t have to bring any food. However, if you do wish to bring a dish to share, that would be much appreciated!

VCDL will be supplying hot dogs, hamburgers, buns, and associated fixings. We will also have drinks, chips, paper plates, eating utensils, and some other food items.

We need to have a handle on how many are going to attend and if you are going to bring an optional dish to share.

To RSVP send an email to me:  president@vcdl.org

In the subject line indicate how many are in your party, such as, “Picnic, party of 3”

In the text of the email, give me your name and, if you are bringing a dish to share, what you are bringing. I am trying to avoid duplicate dishes.

An armed citizen, as well as an off-duty trooper, returned fire on a mass killer at an In-N-Out Burger restaurant in Idaho. Both their efforts distracted the killer and saved many lives. (The killer lost his bravado once bullets were coming HIS way.)

Interesting note: For once an armed citizen helping to save lives was covered by the mainstream media! Kudos to ABC News.
