1. breaking: vcdl/goa major win in court! ubcs struck down!
Late yesterday afternoon, the Circuit Court in Lynchburg sided with VCDL and GOA and struck down Virginia’s Universal Background Check law! We have been fighting this since 2020!
The law will remain in place until the judge signs an order, which could take a week or two. Our attorneys are writing the order and will have it ready ASAP.
As soon as we learn that the law has been officially blocked, a VA-ALERT will be issued. At that time private sales can begin without the purchaser having to go through a background check.
VCDL and GOA still have four other lawsuits working their way through the courts.
2. Update on Fairfax city public input on gun-control expansion
On Tuesday, October 14, I attended the Fairfax City Council hearing and spoke on their proposed ordinance changes.
I won’t mince words here. There were three other gun owners in attendance, who all spoke as well. There were about twelve gun-controllers there. So, we were outnumbered by three to one. That should NEVER happen. There are over 3,000 CHP holders in Fairfax City alone! But all we can get is a mere three local people to show up? That’s not how we win. There were hundreds of emails sent, which is good, but showing up in person is also important.
On the positive side, our speakers all did an excellent job in opposing the expansion of the gun-free zones, while also supporting an exemption for CHP holders to the ordinance.
City Council will vote on the ordinance on October 28, along with any possible changes.

4. new range opening in chester-grand opening this weekend
A new shooting range is coming to Chester. Range USA is having a grand opening this weekend – October 17-19. The address is 11801 US-1 in Chester near where 288 meets I95.
