1. RIVANNA RIFLE AND PISTOL CLUB HOLDING VCDL BENEFIT MATCH ON MAY 23!
The Rivanna Rifle and Pisto Club (Charlottesville area) is graciously holding a Reactive Steel Match to benefit VCDL!
These matches are always a ton of fun. If you haven’t done one yet, what are you waiting for?!
Here is more information and how to register for the match:
Check-in starts at 9 AM at the Pistol Range. Shooters briefing starts at 9:30 at the Pistol Range, and shooting starts immediately thereafter.
This event features four stages with 30 to 35 reactive steel targets per stage. Reactive targets fall or are knocked down when hit, so you get instant gratification and feedback as you shoot. Bring at least 200 rounds of ammunition to shoot this match.
This event is open to the public. The match fee is $25, payable by cash or check on the day of the match. Exact change is greatly appreciated! All proceeds go to VCDL.
Sign up for the match on Practiscore.com. Click on this link to enter:

Competition divisions are:
1. Centerfire handguns with iron(open) sights
2. Centerfire handguns with optics
3. Centerfire pistol caliber carbines and braced pistols
Ammo must be common center-fire pistol cartridges (9mm, .40 S&W, .45 ACP), no magnums please. No steel core or bi-metal ammo is allowed.
Scoring is elapsed time, plus 5 seconds for each target not knocked down. Lowest score wins.
Pistol shooters may start a stage at the low ready or by drawing from a holster. Pistols not drawn from a holster and pistol caliber carbines must be cased until it is your turn to shoot.
This event is run as a cold range, meaning no guns are loaded until the shooter is instructed to load by a safety officer.
Ear and eye protection is mandatory for all, including spectators.
IDPA and USPSA type safety rules and commands will govern this match.
There is a designated safe area to handle your gun or holster up. Match contestants may not handle ammo at the safe area and may not handle their gun in other areas until their turn to shoot.
Rain cancels this event.

9. hunters need to wake up! "gun control advocates: about those rifles we said were okay..."
10. more confirmation that aw's are rarely used in crime
New research shows that “assault weapons” are rarely used in crime. Not news to those of us in the gun community. But, this will surprise many on the fence, as they have been lied to so much about AR-15s being used for violent crime.
From Pew Research:
11. president trump's 2a accomplishments in his second term
Actually, it is quite an impressive list:

12. if all gun owners in the u.s. contributed $100 a year, what gun-rights groups would have to fight gun control
Member Gary D. send me this email:
With about 255 million adults in the US and about 32% of them are gun owners, that equates to 81,600,000 gun-owners. If each of these gun owners contributed only $100/year to fight these anti-gunners with their anti-2nd amendment agenda that would mean that total anti-gun money that could be used to fight these would be $8,160,000,000 ($8.16 billion). The question then becomes, why don't people do it? Just about everyone could afford $200 each / year for a total of $16.32 billion per year!!!!
13. [TX] TEXAS FATHER SHOOTS AND KILLS ATTEMPTED CARJACKER
An illegal alien with a police record decided to hijack a car with a father’s family inside.
That turned out to be a really bad idea.

14. [ca] deadly force to protect property is a bad idea
Whether shooting somebody, firing a warning shot, or, in this case, brandishing, it is considered use of deadly force. And deadly force generally CANNOT be used for defending property, only human life.
15. girl, 14, fires police officer's personal gun at tysons corner
Serious question for Fairfax County Police Department: If I, as a law-abiding citizen with a CHP, accidentally dropped my gun while playing a game, and a 14-year-old later found it and discharged it, would I get my gun back right away without any charges? Or are off-duty police given “special” dispensations that I would not get?
16. gun control making us an 'overnight outlaw'
