1. Shock and Cheating at the General Assembly Last Thursday

The last meeting of the Virginia Public Safety Firearm subcommittee on Thursday proved to be an interesting one.

Gun-control bills were being heard and then monotonously reported out of the subcommittee on a party-line vote.  That was until one bill ended up with a 3 to 3 tie vote, because a few Democrat subcommittee members had left the meeting temporarily.  A bill fails on a tie vote.

The look on Democrat Delegate Alfonso Lopez’s face was priceless when the bill’s defeat was announced by staff.  It was mixture of shock, confusion, and disbelief.  He had clearly expected that gun-control bill to report out just like the others.

One of the Democrats ran out of the room to grab a subcommittee member who was in the hall.  But now the Democrats on the subcommittee were in a pickle.  Only someone who voted on the prevailing side can bring a bill back up to reconsider the vote.  The Republicans were on the prevailing side because they voted to defeat the bill and indeed it was defeated.

The Democrats decided the best way to proceed was to cheat and claim to be the ones who prevailed on the vote.  So, one of them said, “Having voted on the prevailing side, I move that we reconsider the vote.”  The vote then was 4 to 3.  Sadly, none of the Republicans called out the Democrats on this violation of the rules, and the bill reported out.

Virginia pro-gun activists start new Second Amendment sanctuary movement

https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2026/jan/26/virginia-pro-gun-activists-start-new-second-amendment-sanctuary/

Epoch Times:

Virginia group starts new sanctuary 2A movement: As newly inaugurated "moderate" Democrat Abigail Spanberger continues to push the hardest-left agenda she can think of on the good citizens of the Old Dominion, some are beginning to fight back. The Virginia Citizens Defense League is calling for the "Second Amendment sanctuary movement 2.0," which would essentially be a reactivation of a movement that swept the Commonwealth in 2019 and 2020 when leftists were pushing gun control laws. At that time, 95% of county leaders in the state pledged not to enforce unconstitutional gun laws. The Lynchburg City Council is set to vote today to reaffirm its Second Amendment sanctuary status in the face of Spanberger's new spate of gun control laws. VCDL leader Philip Van Cleave says the group is also focused on flipping the control of the Virginia Senate back to Republicans in 2028.

8. The Devil Has Just purchased a Snow Shovel! The View Hosts Defend the 2a!

Well, now, isn’t this interesting? I guess you get 2A rights if you support the views expressed by the hosts.

This is another example of why the View hosts cannot be taken seriously.

Co-host Sunny Hostin touted Second Amendment as a check on tyranny but had previously suggested in 2021 it was intended to 'protect slavery'
