[NC] Mark Robinson, "Not ONe Inch On the 2nd Amendment"
Mark Robinson, who was Attorney General for North Carolina, is a preacher, which helps explain his excellent oratory skills. As he says in this video, gun rights don’t need statistics. They are simply common sense.

Former STate Department Spokesperson Accidentally Says the Quiet Part Out Loud
A great catch by Member Mike K., who sent me this email:
I just thought it was interesting that on Fox News Sunday (March 1), at 38m 20s, former State Department Spokesperson Marie Harf was criticizing Trump and the strike on Iran, when she said, ".... and asking the Iranian people to rise up, and somehow on their own, you know they don't have the guns, the regime has the guns, and we've seen their willingness to use them..."
She didn't realize she inadvertently made the case for the 2nd Amendment!
Just thought I would share that.

Roanoke Gun Poll and Some Thoughts
This poll shows almost a dead heat when it comes to more gun control:

Member Joseph T. emailed me his well-reasoned thoughts on such polls:
I recently came across an article suggesting that a majority of Virginians support bans on semi-automatic rifles and shotguns. My gut reaction was that there must be a flaw in the poll's methodology; however, while that may be the case, I believe the larger problem is that the general public does not understand what the term "semi-automatic" actually means.
A poll conducted by Roanoke College and reported by the Virginia Mercury suggested that 57 percent of Virginians support bans on semi-automatic rifles. This is seemingly at odds with the results of other questions in the poll, which found a near-even split between those who believe gun rights are more important than gun regulation and vice versa. Furthermore, 51 percent of respondents stated that more gun laws would either make them less safe (16 percent) or have no impact on safety (35 percent). Obviously, wanting to ban semi-automatic rifles while simultaneously believing that gun laws have no impact—or a deleterious impact—on public safety are mutually exclusive beliefs.
There are known issues with opinion polls that can taint results. Conservative individuals, for example, are less likely to respond to polls, which can erroneously make liberal policies appear more popular than they actually are. In the case of this poll, the 4 percent margin of error ostensibly takes this into account. I believe the larger issue is that respondents (and the public at large) do not understand what "semi-automatic" means.
I suspect that a significant proportion of respondents believed they were supporting bans on machine guns rather than commonly owned sporting rifles. It is highly likely that the overwhelming majority of respondents would not support a ban on semi-auto rifles if the question were rephrased to ask, "Do you support a ban on rifles that expel a single projectile per each trigger pull?" Technical and scientific illiteracy are massive problems regarding these sorts of polls. Pranksters have famously gotten politicians to unironically support bans on dihydrogen monoxide and hydrogen hydroxide, both of which are chemically correct terms for water.
[PVC: Speaking of legislative stupidity: several times this year in the General Assembly a legislator carrying a gun-control bill had to call a gun-control lobbyist to the microphone to explain the legislator’s own bill!]
It is clear that the politicians peddling anti-2A legislation rely on the technological illiteracy of the general public to pass their garbage bills. Technical terms that are crystal clear to avid 2A supporters can be confusing to the public at large. We should double down on our efforts to educate the general public about firearms. Furthermore, we should reach out to pollsters and ask them to include definitions when polling for opinions on 2A-related hardware issues.
[PVC: Education is one of the cornerstones of the VCDL Academy.]

Reminder: VCDL President Speaking at 2A Rally in Richmond on Saturday, March 14th
I will be a speaker at a Second Amendment rally titled “Rally for Virginia” at 2pm on Saturday, March 14, at the Bell Tower at the Capitol in Richmond (the same location as VCDL’s Lobby Day).
While the General Assembly wraps up business on that day, there will probably be gun bills sitting on the Governor’s desk awaiting either a signature or a veto, so the rally might well have some positive affect.
Thousands are expected to attend, many who simply were not paying attention to what was happening in Richmond until very recently. As they say, “better late than never.” Others will be there who have been active, including having attended Lobby Day this year. It’s too bad that the social media influencers driving this event hadn’t been telling their followers about the looming threat and drove thousands more people to Lobby Day back in January.
I will be encouraging the crowd to join VCDL, get on VA-ALERT, follow us on social media, and TO ATTEND VCDL LOBBY DAY ON JANUARY 18, 2027!
If you can attend, let’s make this rally huge!
