Urgent Action Alert! 

City of Manassas Park to consider gun control TOMORROW, 10/7 at 7pm!  Manassas City Council will be getting public input and possibly voting on the ordinance that night.  The proposed ordinance prohibits carry in government buildings only, not in parks or at permitted events.

City Council will be considering whether to exempt CHP holders, as an addition to the proposed amendment.  So, a strong showing at the hearing and lots of public comments might well help get that exemption in.

   Dear Manassas Park City Council members,
   
   I urge you to OPPOSE item 5C on the agenda for October 7. Otherwise, at least exempt Concealed Handgun Permit (CHP) holders from the proposed ordinance. CHP holders are exemplary, law-abiding citizens, who have had training, passed a background check, and have been issued a permit by the Commonwealth. All of them carry for the sole purpose of self-defense, but some have active threats against their lives. Disarming CHP holders will not make anyone safer, except violent criminals.
   
   
2. Let’s have a strong showing at tomorrow night’s City Council meeting. I think we have a shot at getting a CHP exemption at least. I am planning on being there and will have GSL stickers with me. You can sign up to speak before the meeting, if you wish to do so.
