MAJOR BREAKING NEWS -
ATF GUIDANCE ON NFA ITEMS RELEASED!
MAJOR BREAKING NEWS – ATF RELEASED INSTRUCTIONS ON SUPPRESSORS, SBRS AND SBSS!
This is huge! ATF has applied the injunction on purchasing suppressors, short-barreled rifles, short-barreled shotguns, an Any Other Weapons to everyone who can legally possess those items in their home state!
Here are the key points in ATF’s instructions. Effective immediately:
- You still must fill out a Form 4473 for those items and pass the associated background check, just like when buying a non-NFA firearm. No federal registration is done
- You can now build your own suppressors, SBRs, SBSs, and AOWs
- If you are transporting an un-registered SBR or SBS across state lines, you still must file a Form 20 with the ATF
- Dealers can now sell SBRs and SBSs using a Form 4473
- The method on how to remove suppressors, SBRs, SBSs, or AOWs from a dealer’s inventory is given in the instructions
IMPORTANT: To play it safe should a hostile administration take office at some point, it is strongly suggested that you become a GOA member and keep your membership active, as GOA members are specifically exempted under the original injunction. You should consider being a GOA member before purchasing, or making, any of the affected NFA items to make sure you are protected.
