Here's what happened today on the House and Senate Floors:

House:

SB1035, Senator Hanger's restaurant ban repeal bill, PASSED by 66 to 33!  The provision for having to notify an ABC manager that a person with a CHP is carrying concealed was REMOVED.  Excellent!  This bill now heads back to the Senate, where we will see if they accept that change or not.  Delegate Morgan Griffith offered up the amendment stripping the notification provision.

SB1383, Senator Stolle's bill to remove the pointless Virginia law on silencers and let Federal law control, PASSED by 99 to 0.

SB1513, Senator Smith's bill to put teeth in preemption, had the weakening language that the Senate put in REMOVED and the bill PASSED by 84 to 13!  The bill now heads back to the Senate to see if they will agree to drop their change.  If not, the bill will head to a conference committee.

HB1655, Delegate Carrico's bill to put teeth in preemption, which was weakened in the Senate, had the weakening language REJECTED by 81 to 18.  The bill is now sent to the Senate to see if they will agree to drop their change.  If not, the bill will head to a conference committee.

Senate:

HB2528, Delegate Mark Cole's bill to require localities that do gun buy-ups to sell those guns to a dealer, was amendment by Senator Stolle.  That amendment significantly weakened the bill and VCDL OPPOSES the amendment.  The bill was passed by for the day.

Yesterday in committee I noticed that Delegate Bill Janus had a VCDL Guns Save Lives sticker on his computer.
