1. Good night for gun owners in subcommittee!
*******************************************
Tonight was an excellent one for gun owners in the House of Delegates. The Militia, Police and Public Safety subcommittee #1 took up the following bills:
SB 1035, Senator Hanger's restaurant ban repeal. Delegates Griffith and Lingamfelter, with Senator Hanger's consent, took the notification provision out of the restaurant ban. So under the modified bill, a CHP holder could just walk into a restaurant carrying concealed and simply go about his business. The bill PASSED out of subcommittee.
Voting pro-gun:

SB 1166, Senator Watkin's bill to raise the background check tax for firearms from $2 to $5 was DEFEATED! Thanks to Delegate Lingamfelter for taking the lead on killing the bill.

SB 1254, Senator Marsh's bill to require out of state permit holders with photo-ids to show yet another photo-id to a police officer. Marsh didn't show up and the bill was left on the table (KILLED).

2. UK documentary today
*******************************************
I was interviewed today for a documentary called "32," which is being done by a college group from the United Kingdom. After the interview I took the four of them to a local gun range, gave them a quick course on gun safety, and we shot a Glock 9 MM. Only one of the four had shot before, and that was a shotgun. The one who was filming didn't shoot.
Everyone had a great time.
Shooting is fun, let's face it.
They also taped me speaking at the subcommittee hearing in item #1, above.
Earlier in the week, they spent some time with anti-gunners in NoVA.
Hopefully I gave them a good view of our side of the issue.
