1. Hillsville wrap up

The VCDL table at the Hillsville gun show was a great success. To give you an idea of the number of people attending, stickers were being handed out at a rate of 500 an HOUR!
As you can imagine the crowd, which is calculated to be over 300,000 for a weekend, had quite a few people sporting VCDL's Guns Save Lives orange stickers each day!
Many thanks to all the dedicated VCDL members who worked that marathon of a show.
VCDL will be there next year.

2. VCDL Pot Luck Picnic in Salem
**************************************************
There will be a "pot luck" family picnic at Longwood Park in Salem for
all VCDL members and guests on September 25, 2010.
Early birds will start arriving at 10:00 AM, and food will be served
starting at 11:00.
VCDL will furnish soft drinks, plates, napkins and utensils.
Members are requested to bring a dish with enough extra to help feed a
few more. Out of town guests--please do not try to bring anything that
will spill or cause you problems in transport.
We do NOT plan on cooking anything at the picnic.

As an all volunteer organization, VCDL depends on YOU to volunteer
your time at our area events, where we recruit new activists and keep
gun owners informed. No experience necessary; if it's your first time
we'll pair you with a veteran volunteer. To find out more about
helping at our gun show tables, go to:

the show/event listed below with which you are interested in helping.

a. RRPC FAMILY FUN DAY http://rrpc.org, September 11

Rivanna Rifle and Pistol Club in Charlottesville is holding their
annual Fun Day on Sept. 11, rain or shine. This event is open to
club members, their families and guests. There will be a swap meet,
vendors, shooting events and a raffle. VCDL has been invited to
set up a table and educate folks on what we do.
We need some volunteers to help man the booth. Please help out if
you can. VCDL has been under-represented in the area and we would
really like to have a good showing. In addition, we would like to
express our appreciation for RRPC inviting us to this event and also
inviting us to hold meetings at their club house.
