GUN OWNERS GET THEIR OWN ENTRANCE TO THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY ON LOBBY DAY

Great news!

I had a pleasant and professional conversation with Captain Goodloe, of the Capitol Police department.

In anticipation of VCDL having a large turnout at the General Assembly on Lobby Day, January 19th, the Capitol Police are going to have a SPECIAL DOOR to admit concealed handgun permit holders ONLY!

That means CHP holders will get into the building quickly, without having to wait in the long lines at the normal public entrance.

In order to take advantage of the special entrance, you must have a CHP and you cannot be carrying anything that the police would need to scan with an x-ray machine, such as boxes, backpacks, or briefcases.  Women's purses might also be a problem.

If you are carrying such items, you will probably have to come in the main entrance.

For everyone else - you have your own fast lane!  Just have your CHP and photo ID ready as you enter the door.

The special door is on the side of the building facing 9th street.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

We need for people to be at the General Assembly as early as possible (ideally from 8:45 AM to 9:00 AM).

We have moved the VCDL rally time up - we will need everyone to start heading over to the Bell Tower at 11 AM, instead of at 11:15 AM.

If you are still busy lobbying at 11 AM, then continue lobbying and come to the Bell Tower when you can, as lobbying is the most important thing.

After the VCDL rally, we will break for a one hour lunch at 12 noon.  The GOA rally will start immediately after the lunch break at 1 PM.

TALK ABOUT SOME GREAT SPEAKERS!  Here is the list that we have lined up for the rallies:

* Doc Thompson, conservative, pro-gun talk show host on WRVA (AM 1140) in Richmond from 3 PM to 6 PM Monday through Friday
* Mary Katharine Ham, national columnist and frequent commentator on Fox News
* Virginia State Senator Ken Cuccinelli
* Larry Pratt, Executive Director of Gun Owners of America
* Jeff Knox, Director of the Firearms Coalition
* Reverend Ken Blanchard, author of "Black Man with a Gun"
* James Lark, professor at UVA, Vice-Chairman Libertarian Party of Virginia
* Dave Yates, VCDL Executive Member who headed up VCDL's effort on National Park Carry

HELP US MAKE LOBBY DAY A MAJOR SUCCESS!  Load up your car with friends, family and coworkers and come to Richmond on January 19th!

If you have audio and/or video recorders, be sure to bring them to record and document Lobby Day.

Expect there to be a lot of press in attendance.

This should be a lot of fun for everyone and, with a good turnout of gun owners, it will make a big difference in our efforts to protect and restore our right to keep and bear arms.

Directions and more information is on the VCDL web site.
