VA-ALERT: URGENT: Legislators must hear from us NOW!

We need to contact our Senators and Congressmen NOW and tell them that we do not want ANY more gun control! No ifs, ands, or buts. We don't know what the NRA is going to do and we don't want to gamble on it.

DO THIS NOW!

Understand this: any vote in support of gun control, including bans on guns and magazines, whether the bill passes or fails, will be a vote that VCDL and its members will NOT forget and NOT forgive at election time.

This is Virginia, the Cradle of Liberty, and we will NOT accept our rights being sacrificed at the altar of political correctness or of political expediency.

We do not respect political opportunists, we do respect and support statesmen.

Senator Mark Warner has announced that the has now changed his mind and would support an "assault weapon" bill. So much for the Constitution, eh, Senator? Here's a shocker: Senator-elect Tim Kaine has said he supports the ban, too. On top of that, some of our congressmen are wavering. Kaine is not yet our Senator and Jim Webb is a lame-duck, so for now we will pass on them.

We need EVERYONE to contact Senator Warner and their Congressman NOW.

Here is what to do, step-by-step:

SENATOR WARNER

Let's both call and send an email message to Senator Warner for maximum effect. We must get him to reconsider his new anti-gun position. Be polite, but firm in your opposition to gun control.

Senator Warner's phone number is: 202-224-2023

Fill in your name and address information.

Topic is "Second Amendment Rights"

Suggested subject: Do NOT support any more gun control!

Suggested message:

The tragedy in Connecticut was horrible, but that does not justify attacking the rights of the 80 million gun owners who are not criminals. Laws should always be made using logic and NEVER emotion. For that reason, I urge you to calmly and rationally reconsider your recent statement that you would support a future "assault weapon" ban.

When the original ban expired in 2004, crime across the country DECLINED and is still declining. The ban did NOT work then and a new ban won't work either.

A vote for any further gun control will cost you my future support.

YOUR CONGRESSMAN

We have several Congressmen who are wavering and we need to shore them all up NOW. I don't care if your Congressman is known to be either pro-gun or anti-gun - CALL and EMAIL him anyway!

If you don't know who your Congressman is, click here and enter your 9 zip code in the upper righthand corner (such as 22122-2107). If you only know your 5-digit zip code, enter that and you will be prompted to enter your home address, later:
